Susuwe Island Lodge

You could wait a lifetime to experience closely a truly wild and untouched island of Africa. Susuwe Island Lodge offers just this: remotely situated in the Kwando River - a permanent water source which nourishes delicate ecosystems and sustains varied game and bird life.

LOCATION

Set on the remote Birre Island in the Kwando river in north eastern Namibia - within the spectacular Bwabwata National Park.

ACTIVITIES

Safari Lodge, Day and Night Game Drives, Boat Trips, Bird Watching, Plunge Pool.

ATTRACTIONS

The snort of one of a vast herd of buffalo, heard from the back of an open 4X4 vehicle, dust from their ambling footsteps filling your nostrils, is a memory to treasure. So too is the African talisman - a tree bound leopard unhurriedly digesting his last meal. Glide across the golden waters at sunset to hear the sounds of the bush float over the river.

FACILITIES

With just six personally attended suites, you are assured of privacy and comfort. The cool, restful interior is a haven of calm and respite, an airy dreaming space to recharge the sense and store the day's precious memories. The window-height tub beckons seductively for a lengthy sojourn looking out over mesmerising views, the perfect way to round off a day spent exploring and experiencing the incredible gifts nature has to offer.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

A mouth-watering smell, the clink of silver against china, the susurration of a wine glass filled, these are the joys of African alfresco. Fresh air sharpens whetted appetites and a picnic laid out amidst the tall whispering grasses is all you've ever dreamed of. White linen contrasts against mouth-watering dishes, throwing the tempting cuisine into relief. It's hard work, relaxing. As the curtains dance gently, the scents of Africa drift on the lazy afternoon breeze with only the creaking of a swaying tree for company. The river swirls past slowly and the binoculars come out. Soaking in your private plunge pool, tranquillity rushes in as peace overwhelms body and soul. This is the island experience - filling the senses and refreshing the spirit.

CHILDREN POLICY

We regret no children under 13 years - unless by special arrangement.
