Stanley's Camp

This luxury camp is situated in a 260,000-acre private concession, thus affording guests absolute exclusivity. Stanley's offers year-round access to permanent water.

LOCATION

Set in an amphitheatre of ebony and sausage trees on the southern tip of Chief’s Island, Stanley’s Camp sits amidst 260,000 acres of untamed and untrammelled African bush. Bordering the southern section of the famous Moremi Game Reserve this private concession is located by definition in seasonal delta. The area is home to a wide variety of big game including elephant, buffalo, giraffe, hippo, lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog

ACTIVITIES

Wildlife, Game Drives in open Land Rovers, Walking/Hiking, Canoeing, Elephant Activity, Mokoro Activities and Hot Air Ballooning (a first in Okavango Delta).

ATTRACTIONS

Game viewing in the area is extremely good with excellent numbers of predators and plains-game on offer. The area houses one of the largest buffalo populations in the Okavango Delta, which, in the dry season, can concentrate into a herd in excess of 2000 head.

FACILITIES

Stanley’s is a small luxury camp consisting of 8 classic styled safari tents on wooden decking. The delicately appointed tents exude classic Africa; hand crafted beds dressed with the finest linen, antique furniture individually selected and oriental carpets that give a delightful glimpse at colonial Africa. Each unit offers en-suite facilities and a private balcony. Electricity is supplied by a combination of silent packed generator and battery system allowing 24-hour power supply. The main building is raised on decking and offers expansive views over the surrounding floodplains. The structure has been built into the existing tree line, its main support being a large sausage tree.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The climate is semi arid, sub- tropical with cool winters and hot summers. The “wet” season normally begins late December and lasts through early March. This season characteristically has hot sunny days with afternoon thundershowers. The “dry” season runs from late March to early December. The days are nearly guaranteed as fine and the temperatures vary according to season. Clothing should be cool and comfortable casual year round. Jerseys and heavier jackets are required in the winter mornings and evenings. Muted colours are the most suitable on safari. We advise long sleeves and long trousers for morning and evenings due to mosquitoes. Sturdy and comfortable shoes are essential.

CHILDREN POLICY

For security reasons, children under the age of 9 years are not accepted unless by prior arrangement.
