An exciting and beautiful new CCAfrica camp, Nxabega Okavango Safari Camp, has opened in Botswana's Okavango Delta. The world-renowned CCAfrica styling team have again worked their magic, creating another private safari lodge bearing their stamp of understated sophistication. Luxury is gracefully and discreetly integrated into the primal pleasure of life on safari.
Nxabega means 'Place of the Giraffe' in the language of the 'River Bushmen', the Bayei, who live in remote parts of the Okavango. Nxabega is on the edge of the Delta in a 7000 hectare exclusive wildlife concession on the western border of Moremi Game Reserve. The camp houses a maximum of 18 guests, and nestles under a dense stand of African Ebony and Strangler Fig trees. Ten East African safari tents stand on raised wooden platforms with private verandahs. Nxabega is ideally located for a combined visit to Sandibe Safari Lodge, in the south-east of the Delta.
Nxabega has excellent game viewing opportunities all year round. The camp is a unique combination of the Okavango water wilderness experiences of poling in a mokoro (dugout canoe) and boating, with guided wilderness walks and big game watching on evening game drives. Lion and hyena are routinely seen in camp at night - birding is exceptional.
The magnificent Okavango Delta (16 000 km²) is a half-water, half-grass wetland wilderness of papyrus-edged channels and moves with the rhythms of the seasons. Near the end of the rainy season, a host of wildlife is drawn to the perennial, crystal-clear water. Sable, giraffe, zebra, buffalo, lion and those great wanderers, elephant, drift through the Kalahari woodlands. This Delta is one of the planet's most extraordinary wild places and Botswana's most valuable natural resource - and Nxabega Okavango Safari Camp is the new jewel in the crown.
